Match review: Final day, 4.6.

The winners of the One Nation Cup 2016 are Russia and Germany. The boys from Dynamo Moskau won the Match of the day against Werder Bremen 2:0. The girls from the Bremen team did a better job and won against China in the final with 3:0.

The girls final was dominated by the outstanding Kim Baade. The winner of the golden boot for the most goals was a consistent danger for the Chinese defense. She was the one to score an early goal. Werder played well and did not allow China to perform their style of short pass playing. Instead, China got into trouble and made mistakes, like an own goal. The last goal of the game was shot by Milena van der Pütten with a great solo performance.

Talking about solo performance: It was Zandile Zandela that decided the match for third place between South Africa and the USA. She scored twice to turn around a 0:1 deficit against the US-girls. It was Olivia Singleton to put USA in the lead. This win and the third place for the girls from Durban was probably the biggest surprise of the day.

The third place in the boys bracket goes to Japan. Haruto Ochiai, Yusuke Oda and Ikushi Mashimo were the goal scorers in the 3:1 win against Israel. Especially Mashimo did a great job assisting one goal and scoring one – both were freekicks.

The most anticipated match was the boys final between Russia and Germany. Two sides, who have won every game so far easily. Goals from Andrey Mazurin and German Osnov won the game for the Moskau squad in t a hard, but fair game.

This was the perfect ending of a great tournament, which is all about playing well and being fair. Like all other teams both winners Russia and Germany showed their best, were ambitious and were eager to win without behaving unfair. Congratulations to the deserved winners of the fifth One Nation Cup 2016.
